Welcome to the website of Philip Nork, author of Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male.

"Sensitivity. Roses. Gentle. Nurturing...male? I bet some of you women never thought you'd hear those words put together before. But you read right. All of these things can exist in males, and this book proves it." A & E Groove

I believe that life should be a simple experience-you learn, you share, and you help others. What could be easier? But ask anyone, it is never that easy. The people that you encounter, the obstacles placed in front of you, and the choices that need to be made do not allow it to be that simple.

As you go through this journey of self discovery and the searching for acceptance and happiness that a young boy of divorce endures, there are times that make you wonder why we do what we do. But as you experience the lessons that he learns from those around him and then how he uses those same lessons, you'll see how the "Battle of the Sexes" can be played.

As you walk a mile in his shoes, please take the time to look back on your own journey of self discovery, the people you have met along the way, and the decisions that you have made. And never forget, the way you see things are not always the way others see it.

A thought about the past, the present and the future.

Growing up is difficult, especially being from a broken family and being the oldest child.

After the divorce of my parents, there were times when I thought nobody cared about the effects it had on me. Those were the times that I retreated into the sanctity of my bedroom and turned on the stereo. My album collection consisted of sad love ballads and songs of hope, those lyrics of Bread, Air Supply, Jim Croce and Rod Stewart. Listening to these special people became a ritual that was played over and over.

As I say in the book about my great-grandmother who I called Nana  "On the subject of religion, she reinforced my conviction that it does not matter how or where you worship God, as long as you believe in Him. She said, 'Treating people with the respect they deserve is the best way to get into heaven.'

We also had another ritual which I still do to this day. Whenever the smell of rain came to the air--you know the smell--we would wait excitedly for the storm to hit. As soon as it did, there were the two of us out dancing in the downpour. Nana told me, 'Rain is the cleansing agent God sends to wipe away your sins."

I listen to music all alone whenever I can to this day, as it relaxes and revitalizes me. Nowadays the songs are more uplifting and current, although I still like to go back in time and listen to my old stand-bys of Rod Stewart and Air Supply.

One of the newest singers I have discovered is a young girl named Ashley Allyson, an up and coming country star. Her song "Dance In the Rain" reminds me of Nana and her valuable lessons. I hope you enjoy this video. If you do, watch all of her videos on YouTube.
